An anatomical heart model of of circa 1890’s made by the Auzoux Factory. Louis Thomas Auzoux was a French medical doctor who added papier-mache to the modelling process of anatomical models. The model has some erosion due to time, but is complete with parts and the original paper labels in latin.Auzoux set up a workshop in his home town of Saint Aubin d’Ecrosville in 1827. His newly invented moulding techniques allowed him to re-produce his models. One of these works is our life-size heartmodel, modelled from papier-mache. Polychrome handpainted with egg-tempera and a finished with Russian fish varnish.
