This auzoux model is unusual in that in addition to the creatures their habitat is also represented in the form of the honeycomb. In the cells the eggs are laid by the queen of the colony. She is the largest of the bees. Just visible in the top open cell is a bee larva. Auzoux has also modelled the two other types of bees in a colony, namely the workers and the drones. The workers are responsible for caring for the queen and the larvae, the drones for the defence of the hive. An interesting detail is the opened-up bee where you can see the digestive systeem.
