Two 19th century ceramic pap boat with a blue onion design. Pap boats were used used to feed the unwell or elderly. The blue onion or bulb design whilst originally of chinese origin became popular and stylised in europe in the 18th and 19th century and in germany the meissen factory developed their own particular pattern.
